The Maze Bar is in the main, downtown area of Dalat, which is near the lake and is very busy.
It is easy to miss, but if in Dalat, should not be. There is no entry fee, however they do ask that one buys a drink before entering. After securing our drinks, the bartender pointed us to go down a narrow passageway, and told us we would know once we reached to very top (Jessica had researched it a bit before we visited). We visited in the late afternoon, and we had the whole place to ourselves. There were narrow corridors, different ways to reach each level, lots of cool carvings and colorful lights throughout.
After some ups and downs and twists and turns,
we reached the first level of some daylight, where there is a bar (but it wasn’t open yet).
After a quick break, we continued onward and upward, and more upward, finally reaching the next bar level, and seeing the sky.
But this was not the highest point, oh no, we had to climb more steps to reach the tippity top (and the highest bar, though all were closed, sadly, until later in the evening).
Not too much farther, we made it to the top bar…
and just above that, the highest point of the Maze Bar…
where the views of the city were certainly spectacular.
We stayed up there a while, in a shady spot, and enjoyed the view and area to ourselves. We only encountered a few people when we left, and made our way back down to where we came in. We found the Maze Bar to be what we had hoped the Crazyhouse had been, and it was awesome!
It was dinner time when we left the Maze Bar and did a mini-pub and snack crawl as there are lots of fun bars and pubs to check out in the area.
Afterward, we walked some more, taking some pictures of some huge wall murals that we saw.
On the way back to our hotel we drove by the “Eiffel tower” of Dalat. It is actually just a telephone tower, and can’t be entered. Though it does look like the Eiffel Tower, especially at night. There were many, many people on the street taking pictures with it in the background.
We later saw it from our second hotel, and while walking during the day, around the lake.
Next up, we join a group tour, where we visit waterfalls, ride a mountain coaster, climb up inside a Lady Buddha, try some weird bugs, and more!
