Travels in Penang/George Town: For Art’s Sake

There was so much awesome street art in George Town. Here are some of my favorites, but when you visit, you’ll find so much more, all you have to do is look!

A mural on an orange wall featuring a colorful dragon and a phoenix, with a person standing in front of it.

Ceramic Tiles from Peranakan homes:

Two decorative stone plaques with engravings, one depicting figures near a mountainous landscape and a boat, the other showing figures inside a room with a checkered floor and decorative elements, set against a patterned wall.
Decorative tiled floor featuring colorful lotus designs in shades of pink and green.
Decorative green tile wall featuring embossed floral patterns and a colorful patterned lower border.

Paintings by UK Artist Thomas Powell, seen at the Howard Gallery:

Other Art:

Glass works from Art & Garden:

This was but a fraction of all the art we saw in and around George Town and Penang; if you visit you’ll see some of these and a whole lot more we didn’t see! What a cool place with so much great art!
