For our final meal together with the Dianas, we took our last walk along the Vltava river, heading south toward the Dancing House (where we first had drinks with Diana on the terrace) and ate at a French Cafe, Marthy’s Kitchen. We had great tasting food, drinks and coffee, and had just enough Czech money to pay the bill as they didn’t take cards.

After we took the above-ground tram for our first and only time; enjoying the short ride on the classic train car running along the same street we had just walked, back to the Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) and the Astrological Clock, where we found seating against one of the many statues in the park, and waited to return to the bag storage area, where we would leave for one last night in Prague, and the Dianas would return to Gijon.
Jesse and I took a taxi a short ride away from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town Square and Charles bridge areas (but not too far) to a hotel in the Florenc neighborhood of Prague. After a much needed hotel shower we were off.

We had made dinner reservations at a local brew-pub Pivovarský klub Benedict, when we passed it on our neighborhood walk to nowhere. After all the activity and fun of the past week it was nice to have a stroll through a regular neighborhood, but then again this is Prague, and the regular neighborhood had a sidewalk lined with vendors of different fruits and veggies, baked goods, and other such items (we later learned its a weekly farmers market) leading up to a massive Catholic church, the Saints Cyril and Methodius Church(below is only the back of the church).

The sizeable entry doors beckoned us inside, and as it had a been a while since we had been in a church, we decided to check it out.

The inside is simply stunning, and we were lucky enough that the sun was shining through the stained glass and made the pale colored floors bright with lights.

Leaving the church and walking on, we were surprised to see the Žižkov Karlín tunnel, which is a pedestrian tunnel near Vitkov Hill, and we walked up it, emerging near the Žižkov Television Tower.

Right near the tunnel entrance was a restaurant called “Philly and Co’s Original Cheesesteaks” so of course we had to get a beer, but no cheesesteaks (we had our brew-pub dinner reservations). We walked some more through Vitkov Hill park, strolling along, enjoying the everyday life of the locals, something we missed from our time living abroad. We made our way down some dirt paths, some wooden stairs, and past some city views, on our way to the restaurant.

At Pivovarský klub Benedict we sampled their local brews and finally at a Pork Knuckle, one of the best things to eat in Prague!

We had a very early flight the next day, so called it an early evening after a walk back to the hotel. It was a wonderful trip to Prague, spending time with our friends, exploring a new city, drinking the best beer and eating awesome food; we couldn’t ask for a better trip! Until next time, ciao Praha!
